In the week that Micha Wertheim premieres his new show Nergens Anders at Frascati, he also presents a specially curated program. A true festival with a selection of performances and activities that, according to him, absolutely deserve your attention. Also involved in the program is Noam Shuster- Eliassi.

Micha about Noam Shuster- Eliassi:

“I’ve never seen Noam Shuster-Eliassi perform. I met this female Israeli comedian in Jaffa, the Palestinian city that’s increasingly being taken over by Tel Aviv.

As well as a comedian, Noam is an activist. She grew up in Neve Shalom / Wāĥat as-Salām, a community where Jews and Palestinians try to bring up their children together, and in harmony. (New Yorker article)

She performs in English, Arabic and Hebrew. The documentary about her Coexistence, My Ass recently premiered at Sundance, and the film – which has met with great acclaim – will also screen at IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam).

I want to talk with Noam about her comedy and her activism. For her, the two inevitably go hand-in-hand – even though there’s less and less to laugh about in Israel these days.

When last year I flew back to the Netherlands from Israel, my foremost thought was: What’s happening there, will happen to us too. Which is why I am so keen to find out what she has to say.”
