On Friday, September 27, theater programmer and critic Marijn Lems will have a conversation with Carolina Bianchi and the performers from her collective Cara de Cavalo, following Carolina's residency research for the second part of her groundbreaking Cadela Força triptych, Chapter II: The Brotherhood.

 About Cadela Força

In 2023, Carolina Bianchi, together with her collective Cara de Cavalo, started Cadela Força (Bitch Strength): a triptych about femicide. The first part was titled Cadela Força - Capítulo 1: A noiva e o boa noite cinderela / Chapter 1: The Bride And The Good Night, Cinderella, co-produced with Frascati Producties. The performance caused a shockwave during its premiere in Festival d'Avignon, was recently nominated for a Theo d’Or for the most groundbreaking stage performance, and has been selected for the Official Jury Selection of the Dutch Theater Jury.

Chapter II: The Brotherhood

During her residency at Frascati Producties in September 2024, Carolina will conduct research for the second part of her Cadela Força triptych, Chapter II: The Brotherhood. In this part, she delves into the complexity of some 'masculinity pacts', the origins of brotherhood between men and their violent mutual codes that perpetuate rape and sexual violence as part of their vocabulary.

Caroline uses the principles of contemporary theatre to articulate the possible paths for this discussion. She creates a dialogue between dramaturgy and trauma, autobiography, possession and radical poetry, the origins of misogyny and a sexuality in crisis. The performance will premiere at Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels in May 2025.

About Carolina Bianchi

Carolina Bianchi is an Amsterdam-based Brazilian theatre-maker, performer and writer who graduated in 2022 from the master’s programme at DAS Theatre – Academy of Theatre and Dance. Her work oscillates between theatre and performance, always around a core of totally integrated theory and practice. Her productions start from the perspective of crisis and address issues of gender, sexual violence and art history – sometimes on the basis of personal and/or historical events.

In her sensory, forthright and uncompromising shows, Carolina makes use of a combination of references from literature, news, film and fine art, and is always looking to further her ongoing confrontation with anything that seems to be an absolute truth. Her productions translate complex social and political issues into highly accessible material that appeals directly at a physical, intuitive level to wide audiences.

This Brazilian maker is a member of the São Paulo collective CARA DE CAVALO (Horse's Face), with whom she has created works including: O Tremor Magnífico (The Magnificent Tremor) – 2020; LOBO (Wolf) – 2018; the open-air production Quiero hacer el amor (I Want to Make Love) – 2017; and the lecture/performance Mata-me de Prazer (Kill Me with Pleasure).
