Randa Peters
Biography
Writer Randa Peters’ (1992) dialogues are rich, full of wonder and gentle ridicule of slogging humanity.
Peters studied Writing for Performance for one year at the HKU, but in 2013 made the transition to the screenwriting course at the Netherlands Film Academy, from where she graduated in 2017 with Bloed Kruipt (2017). Bloed Kruipt received the Netherlands Film Fund wildcard and was the Film Academy’s submission for the Student Oscars. After graduation, she wrote the short film Bladgoud (2018), among others, and won the 3LAB series contest for her co-authored episode Bad Influencer. She is currently working on her first feature film, Een beetje lang en soms gelukkig about love gone wrong.
Peters is writing her first theatre text for Frascati Producties (with ITA). Two men discuss love in great depth, but seem unable to get closer than some of the frayed edges of real life. The text was staged as part of Fraslab in March of 2019, directed by Silke van Kamp.
Frascati Producties has set up a cooperation for young writers, in cooperation with ITA. During the 2018-2019 season, Frascati are taking the following under their wing: Esther Duysker, Sytske van Koeveringe, Randa Peters and Tjeerd Posthuma. Michaël Bijnens and Jibbe Willems are working with ITA. A joint masterclass by an internationally renowned playwright is organised at least once a year. To date, several public lectures have been held in Frascati, and work by the authors participating in this process will be presented to the public during Holland Festival 2019.
