Deze editie van Under Construction duurt drie dagen, van donderdag 27 t/m zaterdag 29 maart. Op donderdag zie je achtereenvolgens twee voorstellingen van Vainergill Thurnim en Başak Layic. Op vrijdag en zaterdag voegt Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit zich bij het programma en zie je drie voorstellingen op één avond. We verzamelen iedere avond bij Frascati 2.

Ochtenddauw - Vainergill Thurnim

Een verkenning naar de kracht van woede in een complex dialoog tussen saxofonist Diana Dzhabbar en danseres Vainergill Thurnim.

Ochtenddauw is een meeslepend duet tussen dans en saxofoon, waarin de grenzen van expressie en emotie worden verkend en verlegd. In het stuk ontmoeten, versmelten en botsen de explosieve bewegingen van Vainergill Thurnim met de rijke klanken van saxofonist Diana Dzhabbar in een confronterende dialoog waarbij de emotie woede centraal staat.

Als de zon ondergaat en woede haar plek inneemt, komt de complexe en onderdrukte emotie aan het licht. Maar is woede wel echt zo negatief en destructief of is het een legitieme en gezonde emotie? Ochtenddauw laat zien dat woede kan bevrijden, ruimte creëert voor nieuwe perspectieve, aanzet tot actie en het begrip voor elkaar vergroot. Ervaar de kwetsbaarheid van de nacht en ontdek hoe dit verandert in ochtenddauw. 

Divine Madness - Başak Layiç

Who is insane? Find out in this ritual performance where live music and theatrical storytelling guide you through the depths of madness and the Divine Feminine. 
 
After years of battling panic attacks, Başak consults a modern witch in Istanbul and uncovers that her anxiety is rooted in her family’s past. She learns that her grandmother, labelled 'crazy' and who ended her own life, has been haunting her. To rid herself of this presence and avoid a similar fate, Başak embarks on a journey into the mysteries where she asks for the help of Lilith. With the audience's help, Başak will delve into the depths of madness and seek light within the darkness, navigating the fine line between reality and fantasy while grappling with the haunting question: 'Am I the one who is mad, or is it the Divine?’ 

Tung..  - Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit

Join us in an exploration of traveling poly rhythms, poly cultures and poly heritage,

Tung... is an exploration of the sensorial, emotional and physical response in relation to frequencies; a live performance in which various constellations of dancers come together, each bringing their own rhythms. Inspired by the philosophies of Augustus Pablo, who stretches cultural connecting  from the West Indies through West Africa, East Africa and on to the islands of the Indonesian archipelago, as the dancers unite in a dance called Poco Poco / The Electric Slide.

This is performance for ambi-, intro- and extroverts that come together in a dance that makes your organs vibrate. Bring your earplugs for a full body experience

Over Vainergill Thurnim

Vainergill Thurnim is een 25-jarige Amsterdamse danskunstenaar. In 2020 is ze afgestudeerd aan de opleiding Docent Dans, Academie voor Theater en Dans. Voorafgaand heeft ze de vooropleiding en het MBO gedaan aan het Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts. Haar training in commerciële en contemporary dans verbind ze met behulp van West-Afrikaanse dansesthetiek. 

Momenteel is Vainergill werkzaam als freelance danser, docent, choreograaf en producent. Als nieuwe maker staat ze geprogrammeerd tijdens het RRReuring festival 2023, verzorgt zij lessen onder de organisaties DOX (Utrecht) en Tjillskillz (Hoorn) en heeft zij onder anderen mogen werken met choreografen Alida Dors, Anne Suurendonk en Christiaan Yav. 

Over Başak Layiç


Başak Layic is a storyteller, theatermaker, and Artistic Director originally from Istanbul, now based in Amsterdam since 2019. As Mezrab’s in-house storyteller, she crafts narratives that blend humor with dark themes while delving into profound philosophical questions and illuminating the universal human condition. Her stories linger in your mind like a catchy tune you can’t stop humming—only less annoying. 

Over Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit

Ciro Monoarfa Goudsmit is an artist fascinated by vibrations, he started with club and street styles before exploring the impact of sound on the body as a choreographic tool. His work focuses on discovering personal rhythm through sensitivity to drum patterns and body tremors. This exploration comes from the desire to understand the inner body in relation to the physical world around us; to re-understand identity by embracing  mixedness as a style of making.
He stages his research by immersing audiences in embodied soundscapes, encouraging them to amplify sensations and "become speakers."
