Caro Derkx
Caro Derkx (Arnhem, 1995) graduated from the Maastricht Institute of Performative Arts in 2019 with the solo performance Me, Myself and Sir Roger Scruton, written after living in Oxford and under the supervision of Thomas Dudkiewicz. Me, Myself, and Sir Roger Scruton is a political-psychological thriller of ideas about conservative philosopher Sir Roger Scruton that examines the appeal of neo-liberal thought to a younger generation. In the end, this monologue revolves first and foremost around the tension between ‘the self’ and ‘the other.’ The performance won both the Henriëtte Hustinx Prize 2019 and Het Debuut 2019.
Derkx holds a great love for the visual arts, literature, and philosophy, which she uses to question the key themes of our time. In her work, she studies the complex relationship between fact and fiction, reality and fantasy, reality and framing, and the increasingly problematic notion of authenticity. Since the 2020-21 season, Caro has developed her work at Frascati Producties. Her first performance at Frascati Producties premiered in December 2020 and was entitled A Portrait of the Artist in Red, Yellow, and Blue. Her latest performance, Emma Watson - The Play, premiered february 2022 .

"Intrigerend spiegelpaleis"

★★★★ NRC over A Portrait of the Artist in Red, Yellow and Blue van Caro Derkx / Frascati Producties
