What if dreams were not just chaotic tumblings of thought, but a 2.0 version of ourselves? Dreams that come up with solutions by tapping into our deep personal archives that otherwise remain inaccessible in waking life.

In the transmedia performance Within Cells Interlinked the audience is invited into an intricate world of dreams, corporate surveillance and gameplay, exploring the intersection of imagination and reality. Across different realities four performers interact. Two dreamers are deeply immersed in their dream worlds. One finds himself at his own wedding, marrying a complete stranger and travelling backwards through time; while the other finds herself on vacation where she encounters a lost toddler who changes gender and runs on battery. In the meantime two dream analysts intervene in these citizens’ night time reveries, attempting to change them in order to affect real-life events.

For Within Cells Interlinked TILT collaborates with the Premonitions Agency, a specufictional government entity. Their task is to collect, capture and analyze citizens’ dreams and intervene into them to affect possible real-life events. The performance is based on real nighttime dreams, donated by the artistic team and several other dreamers.

The performance playfully explores the questions of free will and agency, sentience and imagination amidst the next wave of digitalization and globalization. Overlapping dream and gameplay, science and mysticism, it inquires how–when these other logics are projected onto the everyday–this can allow for other perceptions and imaginaries to emerge.

Within Cells Interlinked is the first performance in the performative-cinematic multiverse titled LUNARIS, a fictional shared world - embedded in the ‘real’ world – which Andrea Božić and Julia Willms are developing the coming years in collaboration with the Premonitions Agency. LUNARIS will host a constellation of interlinked works: performances, audio-visual installations and related smaller works across performance and visual art.

About the makers

TILT is an Amsterdam-based in-disciplinary arts platform with a focus on the creation and dissemination of performance and visual arts works by choreographer and artist Andrea Božić and visual artist and performance maker Julia Willms, and associate artist - theatre and performance artist Billy Mullaney

Andrea and Julia have collaborated since 2003 making in-disciplinary works that re-organize space, attention and perception, exploring how spectatorship, imagination and spectacle are intertwined, embodied and felt in the eras of globalism and digitalisation. They work with the larger space and the visitor's presence as part of the work, combining dream logic and gameplay, cosmology, quantum physics, and mysticism to make playful performances and audio-visual installations often in collaboration with the weather and night sky.

Recent works include performances Dream Archive: Live Collection, How To Exit a Reality (Attempt 1 of 19) and PoroCity and the audio-visual installations Looking-Glass House, Civil Twilight, The Cube and Zandloper (Hourglass).

They have presented their work across the performing art and visual art in the Netherlands and internationally, collaborating with partners such as Frascati, SPRING, Oerol, KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen, Centre Pompidou Metz, Museum Sinclair House, Reina Sofia Museum, among many others.
