Moving Beyond Bro! is an artistic exchange in dance, performance and music between Senegalese choreographer, dancer, visual artist Alioune Diagne and Dutch theatre maker Joris Buizer. They work from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds but do not let cultural divisions hold them back. Their worlds do not clash but rather show intense cohesion.

This musical choreography focuses on brotherhood seen from a decolonial African perspective and a European/Dutch perspective. The story of brotherhood is based on Alioune Diagne's recording of stories of young men in Senegal who want to migrate to Europe. Together with keyboard player Thomas Lotgering and dancer Denzel Crocker, both artists explore brotherhood and identity in a globalising world and in relation to the place they both belong, the Netherlands and Senegal. What does brotherhood mean to them? Alioune Diagne explores an African expression of brotherhood and belonging from his African context and with crossovers between dance and visual art. Joris Buizer explores brotherhood and identity from his context as a young Dutch artist working with rap and spoken word. In this Moving Beyond Bro! the two artists search for similarities and differences in their artistic idiom and the essence of brotherhood and connectedness.

This performance is the third part in a triptych in which African and Dutch makers create new work. Première at Afrovibes festival

At a difficult turning point in his personal and professional life choreographer Florent Mahoukou returns to the city of Pointe Noire where, for him, everything began with dance. His native country has changed very little and nothing is offered to people to get out of precariousness. Only informal activities allow them to survive. 'Face to Face is about self-questioning with a desire to understand life, where resourcefulness borders on art.
